I have chance to pick up a 1977 Westfalia. I currently have a 1978 Champagne Edition Westfalia.....my question: If I can't get the 77 running will it be a good parts bus for my 78. In searching around I think it will be....thanks

Yes, there's no significant differences between those years.

The 77 steering wheel is hard plastic vs rubberized on the 78. The 78 has those trick heat control valves that direct the hot air to the back vs the 77 has the 72-77 style.

Solid lifters in the 77 & hydraulic in the 78, no? Of no real consequence though.

slider and driver middle window are sliders on 1978 and vent windows on 1977. tin is slightly different on the engine in 1978 as the carbon canister goes into the tin instead of the fan shroud. Carbon canister is on the firewall on a 1977 and near the battery on a 1978. Otherwise mostly the same.
