What spacers??
Depends on what cooler and case you have whether that are spacers under the cooler.
If the cooler has the part number stamped next to the oil sender, it is a late model with 10mm passages.
If the case is a 1970 and later, it is a late model with 10mm passages.
With that combination, you use no spacers.
If you have a late cooler and early case, you use the adapter seals with no spacers.
If you have the early cooler (no part number) and a late case, then you use the adapter seals with the thin spacer washers. about the thickness of 2 engine tin screw washers.
If you have an early case, and an early cooler, then yes you need the spacers.
VW lists them as a VW part number and gives no dimensions.
They are the same thickness as the flange on the metal piece that goes in there. About 3.5mm.

on my 65 the spacers are:
6.9 mm ID
14.0 mm OD
3.0 mm thick

they are made of aluminum if that's important.
