I've looked through the Paint and Bodywork forum and can't seem to locate any info on where to find a current source for L-21 Perlgrau paint . I'd like to eventually repaint my '50 Standard in L-21 satin . Any suggestions of where to look for formulas or suppliers ? Thanks , Gene :?

There's a guy in the bus forum that just did his '56 in Pearl Grey; maybe you can hit him up for the paint formula/code.

Gene, keep us posted on who/how you get it mixed up. I'll have to do the same for my '51. I want a single stage urethane paint.

John , I'll keep ya'll up to date when I nail down a possible source that can duplicate the Glasurit formula . I've had good luck with synthetic enamel for ease of use , such as Nason , but I'd like to knock some of the shine off with flattener . I'm more inclined to be closer to the original satin than the more popular gloss look . Gene

Yeah, I don't want anything too glossy either. But I am totally sold on the durability of urethanes. I have seen some single stage hot rod urethane finishes from DuPont that look to be about right.

It's been awhile since I bought paint , so when I needed a color matched to an existing panel , the local auto paint supplier was able to do a spectrograph scan and match it in Nason , which I think is Dupont's synthetic enamel . It is single stage and the only paint they could match with a scan . I believe they could mix single stage urethane by formula . I have to go up there to get a scan on paint for my '63 Bus which I repainted in lacquer ( big mistake ) in 1985 , which will have to be Nason . Oddly enough the Bus was originally Grey and may have been close to Perlgrau ! :? G
