The fuel gauge went out on my 71 super. Will this replacement part work with the 71 Super?

How difficult is it to replace the fuel gauge in a speedometer? The speedo is a standard VDO 90mph dated 3/71.

Also might add that the sending unit and vibrator are new. I did the ground out test and the needle did not move on the current gauge.

Any help would be appreciated.

Gauge replacement is extremely easy.
Before replacement double check the grounds on the speedo assembly as well as all connections. Clean and tight. I have noticed that most 30 year old connectors are very brittle and will crack if disconnected.

Check the fuel gauge voltage stabilizer (vibrator) too. Search here on the forums.

My gauge was erratic (bad vibrator) and I let it go until it it cooked the gauge.

I lucked out and I replaced the gauge/vibrator with one's from a $10 swap meet speedo I bought. Gauge works great now.
