1968 model year. Actual day of production is on the M plate located on the bulkhead behind the LH front seat. |

According to the VW Transporter and Microbus Specification Guide 1967-1979 http://www.t2-specification-guide.com/ the 1968 model year ran from 1st August 1967 through to 31st July 1968.
For those T2s manufactured in 1967, VIN numbers started at 2#8 000 001 on 1st August 1967 through to 2#8 073 585 on 31st December 1967.
Replace the # above with 3 (denotes model type, 23 is for Kombi) on your VIN, the VIN is 238 019 447 which means the camper is built on a Kombi, and manufactured in 1967 (model year 1968).
As Busdaddy says, the M-plate should help to pin point exactly when in 1967 (I'd guess September 1967 if you average the 73,585 units produced over the 5 month period). |
