I never messed with a ragtop before. I want to take off the rag (canvass) so I can dye it. It is a faded gray now. I want to take it off an dye it black. But I am not sure how to slide it off the frame. Any suggestions??

Check my59's gallery. He has scans of a manual with step-by-step instructions how to remove/install a ragtop cover.

Well the heck with that, Brain Surgery looks easier!!
Looks like it can wait till the outside of the car gets painted. Because the ragtop an headliner has to come out along with the windows. After its painted the upolstry shop said to bring it to him an he will install the ragtop, the cover, headliner and the windows for me 200.00 bucks!!!
He can have it!!!!!!

Yea...

150.00 headliner
35.00 headliner insulation
35.00 ragtop rebuild kit
150.00 canvas cover
Keeping me from messing them up??

200.00 for the upolstry shop to install both.......priceless

Just under 600.00!!!

I just dyed mine today, on the car. I just used a large piece of paper at the edges and released the tension to get the paper under there. Turned out great, no overspray issues either. May as well try it. You are getting it painted anyway.

What kind of dye did you use? I got a liquid type. From wallmart, the directions say to put it in the washer with the whole bottle.

How did you do it??
