Hello all,
I don't work on my 70 Beetle myself, but have had the same mechanic for at least 10 years, no problems.
Recently, I have had a leaking brake line replaced (near the pedal). The problem I have now is the brakes grab suddenly and squeak badly for the first few times (after ~4 stop signs) then gradually work in and perform smoothly, no sqeaking. After the car has sat parked for 2 hrs or overnight, same thing again. So the brakes seem to grab and sqeak only when the car is cool.
Im in southern california, so not extreme weather.
Iv'e been to my mechanic twice for follow-up brake work and this problem still persists. At one time it was mentioned by my mechanic that the master cylinder check valve might be sticking. Not sure though.
Has anyone seen this problem before?
