Wife's new car came with a spare set of new Sachs shocks for the front. I'm installing them today, but I've run into a problem. The metal sleeve inside the lower bushing is in place, but it looks like the same sleeve from the old shock is stuck on the mount.
Is this something that is supposed to come off? It almost looks like a permanent piece, but I can't install the new shock with it in the way.
What do I do?!?!?!? |

Same thing happened to me last year. Tried penetrant, heat and brute force but it finally yielded to careful application of a cutoff wheel and a bit of finicky chiseling- I didn't want to gouge the steel beneath.
It's a bitch but you can do it. |
