That thing is beautiful! Nice work. I checked out a high top for sale last year that was converted using metal cut to shape and then just screwed in place into wood on the inside of the bus. It sounds ghetto but didn't look that bad. This one in the classifieds looks like it might be converted as well. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=902542

re:coolcolger i hope that is not a daily driver othewise you just made yourself one HELL of a blind spot.

i converted my westy to full width bed b/c the cabinets were too much of a blind spot for DD driver use... IMO

Agreed. I have bumped that right rear corner a bunch of times.

Here are some more pics however I dont have any during pics because i didnt think it was too big a deal at the time.

Before I rustproofed and insulated the inside of the panels:

As you can see I have a back window:

I actually spent my entire saturday working on the bus. I got the entire underside undercoated, painted the exhaust system, reworked some carpeting inside, got the remaining paneling in on the inside... and I even had enough time left over to wash the bus and vacuum it out lol. Anyone interested in seeing the inside?

I have a panel that was converted to ... something ... and I'm aiming at converting it back once I've taken care of more urgent matters.

That's very ...unique.

OP I misread the topic. Nearly cried when I thought you converted a panel to a non-panel. Myself being a person who owns such a thing.

I approve of what you have done. It looks nice. Very clean.

Here is an picture from the outside:

In defense of the original owner I can say that the bus was bought and delivered straight to a garage for rebuild as a low budget camper for 2 persons. I'm the 3:rd owner, the second owner never drow it, and for 150$ pricetag on the panel I can take that it's a bit ... unique ;)

It sounds like the heat exchanger flange/ head seal is leaking? Or is that rod knock? I guess it could be a hydraulic lifter not pumped up? Maybe just need to adjust the valves? Sorry to hijack.
