The stock gearbox is what you need and would be the most economical, to have one in perfect condition get it rebuilt.

You would have to modify it to hook up the motor and to mount in the bus. Not worth it or needed. |

Plus the 1600 will be having a hard time pulling the 091 just not enuff HP you will be down shifting more. It has a hard enuff time with the right trany.

If you have a good 091 trans just sell it. You can buy 2 three ribs for what a 6 is worth.

The gear ratio. The 3 rib (002) was in the 1600 buses along with the early T-4s. The T-4 3 rib mounts differently and has a longer input shaft. Just go with a stock trans for your bus. The engine will thank you in the long run.

I had an 091 in my 1971 bus and really didn't notice much of a difference except it ran out of steam on light grades earlier. 091 is stronger but I got 250,000 miles out of my 002 so just get a good 002 rebuilt from Richard Long at Long Enterprises.

the CA is a 002 gear box most likely about a 1970 and the CK is a later 002 it may have factory welded gear hubs. Both have the same gear ratio.
