View original topic: Best Instsallation Of 2 Barrel Manifold

I tried about 3 weeks ago upgrading to a Weber Progressive. Was over half-way done when I realized the shroud had to come off. I was tired, it was dark, and it was cold so I threw everything back together. I've heard mixed things about them, I've even heard bfrom a guy over here that builds motors that you need a cam upgrade for it to work correctly, otherwise it'll run great at first and then start to run like crap. Is that true or not true? I'm tired of this Mexican crap, keeps fouling out my plugs. I backed the choke off, and it still does it. I'm scared to adjust the mix. I want to take my chances and try to get the beast on again, but I just don't know the best way to get it in there with the motor in the car. A different guy said you didn't have to take the generator out, so I honestly don't know. It's stock, so I don't have a whole lot of room to work in there like you would on a baja or something. I'd like to hear from some people who have done it. I even looked for videos to no avail. I would appreciate any advice.

Yes, I saw that before. Thanks anyway. The carb itself is ready to run, it has been jetted and everything...

But my question, that is not mentioned in that thread, is how to get the old manifold off. I guess that is partly my fault, for naming the thread wrong. I wasn't paying attention.

i have never taken the shroud off to change the intake
first i take off the carb

then the alternator or generator whatever you have
i leave the fan attatched when i do this
you will most likely have to remove the 2 screws that hold the fan shroud in so that you can have some wiggle room

take off the dizzy

remove left side manifold

then the intake and alt/gen stand can come out at the same time
