I have bought a lot of parts from CIP1. I think they have pretty fair prices and most orders over 100 have free shipping. I have ordered a few things from Jbugs and Chiro. this is only when there prices are cheaper or they have something i cant find. I avoid JC Whitney because on their web page they put lots of stuff that doesn't go to bugs and generic parts on the classic VW section. I also avoid Mid America Motor sports mainly because they are way over priced and they try to further rape you by jacking up shipping.
Hope this helps Chopps

Try WolfsburgWest [http://www.wolfsburgwest.com/], they sell a top quality product.

Wolfburg West and CIP1 are the only stores I've dealt with, because I've never had to deal with anyone else! Highly recommend both. Kind of a drag CIP1's free shipping is now up to $99 orders. Used to be $50.

This. Those are the only two I've dealt with the past year, and I'm 99% satisfied with them.

not that i have a problem with any i've tried but is there a good one on the east coast?

MidAmercia is OK too, harder to use website than Cip1 but they have items the others don't. I used them, Cip1 and Jbugs all with no problems, fast shipping, a decent quality to the parts.

You might try Peek Performance in Seabrook, MD.

http://www.cip1.ca or if you're in Canada http://www2.cip1.com

http://www.wolfsburgwest.com

http://www.germansupply.com

...are the only three I've dealt with. All very good, sure I had a few problems but they were all dealt with promptly to correct the problem.

I have used cip1 and a few of the others. My conclusion is that some of their stuff is good and great prices but some of their stuff (like all the vw shops sell) is junk. Sometimes they tell you ahead of time if it is and sometimes you just find out when you get it. Just beware if they send you something that looks like its made out of tin cans and has no origin markings.

In particular i have gotten garbage tie rod ends, door weather strip and pedal assembly from cip 1 and a clutch cable that seemed extremely small compared to the one i took out. My guess is that their e brake handle is lighter and weaker than the original. That is an item you might be better off fixing/rebuilding the one you have

I also have used CIP1 for over 20 years. They are upfront about the variety of parts that they sell. If there is a Brazilian versus German choice, as I recently had with my bus master brake cylinder, they gave me their recommendation of how the two parts have worked for others. With fewer OEM German parts now available, we are left with various aftermarket companies to supply more parts now...
