Here's my Pearl White. Original Paint!
It sat, twice, for periods of roughly 3 - 4 years each time, unmoved, and unwashed (except for rain) in my parent's driveway in Northern Huntington Beach (7 miles inland from the ocean), CA.
This is what salt air, even from that distance, will do to your original paint over time. [and yes, that is some bondo, some primer paint, and some beige spray paint (upper-back roof, right corner of bus) that you are noticing in the second picture]
Into the light of day after a 3-year storage in a barn in northern California: (Picture from Oct. 2008)

I concur with the Huntington beach salt air!! I used to surf Cliff's daily (prior to the parking meters) and just parking my bus there all day created rust in spots on my bus....that stuff is HARSH!

It must be really tough having to endure the salt air out there
Seriously though, the roof had rust spots when you pulled it from the barn. I can't believe you left it outside for 7 years without treating/painting them. If we did that for 7 years here it would need a roof clip. |
