| I have a dash light that stays on and I don't know what it is. I checked my Haynes Manual and it does not show a picture. This light is located between where the clock goes. It is round and has a B on it. Any thoughts? Thanks |

| It is a brake warning light. Is your e-brake set? |

The crystal ball is cloudy, but if your bus is a 77 here's the page from the owners manual found in the technical section here on TS (other years essentially the same).

that is the other light - the BREAK warning light. He asked about the BRAKE warning light. Damn English making so many words similar. Why is it in America we spell it color while the English spell it colour - or gray and grey, curb and kerb, etc. Heck there are days when I dont know if they meant lead as in lead the way or lead as in get the lead out. I had a friend who spoke poor English and every time someone said turn at the fork in the road she asked why we didn't use spoons or knives to mark our highways instead of forks.
The light comes on when you pull the E-bake out or if the pressure fails on one side of the master cylinder. |

| Quick question. I disconnected my light when pulling the gauges and forgot to take a picture when I was pulling it. Where do the three wires go for the brake warning lamp? There is a red, black and brown wire and the diagram in the bentley does not help much. |

Impossible to describe but there are really tiny terminal numbers on the light. Look at wiring diagrams for multiple 69-71 models (bugs, Ghias, etc..) on Vintagebus.com, they all share the same numbers and colors and some of those diagrams show numbers that are readable. |

Yeah the numbers! On the outside they are K and 15 and then there is a terminal in the middle of the bulb holder. I cant figure it out from the diagram though. It looks like the red wire goes to the bulb holder and the black and brown on the outside but to which terminal? |

K is the red wire from the switches and #15 is black so that just leaves the brown one and only one remaining terminal, go get em! |

How about the infamous Lucas voltage "regurator". I won't even mention how they pronounce "aluminium". :) :bay_red: |

| As to it coming on when you hit a puddle, check the master cylinder connections... You may need to replace the wire end connectors with new water tight ones... |

I have a 79 Westy and have a similar question that seems to fit here best after searching for a more specific thread.
My brake warning light is on and bright all the time. When I hit the brakes or set the e-brake, it dims (but does not turn off). I have recently replaced both of the switches on the master cylinder, but did not change any of the wiring. Also, my brakes work fantastic and all other lights are in working order.
I'm assuming my light is working backwards? Thoughts?
Thanks! |
