Nice, that parts bus looks like its in good condition though! But maybe the underbelly has some scary stuff going on that we can't see.

Parts Bus? Geez, looks much nicer then mine. Is there a world of rust and bondo under the straight panels?

What's the decal on the parts bus? Nice pair you have there!

yeah, the parts bus looks nice, but the underside is totally gone and a magnet wont stick to most of the panels due the 50 lbs of bondo from the last resto 10+ years ago!

the torsion tube is barely attached; only just holding from some dodging welding by a few po's ago.

The last owner found it in a forest where it had been for over ten years. When I removed what was left of the heater tubes, I found peanuts and bird seed from the last inhabitant!

It's "2009", the PO took it out once last year; judging by the belly he was very lucky.

Is it just me, or does that white headlight trim almost make that tin-top look like Steve Buscemi?

I could get everything except "Travelling". I have a hard time reading words that misspelled. They wrote "Traveling" :P. Peace!

Did you have to point that out? I am going to see that every time I pass it!

Have already moved lots of parts over, I am very lucky to have a second bus; it makes me a lot braver, knowing that I have back-up bits if I screw up!
My wife, daughter and I will be camping lots this year. I just have a few things left; switching all four wheels and tires, heater boxes, rear bumper and windshield. Get new; Pop top seal, windshield washer system, interior light.

This thread is so bizarre for me. Check out the nearly identical buses I picked up late last year.....both 73's. I sensed I was reading my own thread....

Maybe you've started something! Anyone from Mexico got two orange Westies? Any Europeans?

1975 Kombi Sun Mar 21, 2010 7:07 pm

nice buses jonny5!

I hav a pair of 1972 sierra yellows - that have both been painted red overtop. does that count? course, one of them is stripped to the bone. but i didnt get them at the same time - so maybe it doesnt count? aaaaaanyyyyyhow...

I agree though, its amazing what a parts bus can do for you. and its even better when the parts bus is rusted to bits so then you dont feel bad tearing it apart, you actually feel like you are doing it a service saving all the NLA parts.

keep up the progress pics please! what kinda stuff you getting into?? :D
