| Try some Gunk "Foamy Engine Bright" iirc, it is a very good engine cleaner/degreaser. |

If I remember correctly, Easy Off is rather caustic and might not be a good choice to put on magnesium. |

| Very little of the engine case is visible when the engine is complete. |

Hey akavinn, what Easy Off are you going to use? I can check out the MSDS to see if it might mess with the magnesium engine block. I'm a chemist, so I dig this kind of stuff.
Magnesium is actually a highly reactive metal. The only thing keeping it from going nuts is the layer of MgO (rust) that forms when it's exposed to air. Anything that takes that rust off will leave pure Mg exposed, and it will react with alot of stuff, so you need to be careful. |

| My friend used easy off on his engine. It ruined his once shiny aluminium pulley. Left white streaks all over it. Can't tell you if the pulley was raw or coated. I also read somewhere that people claim to use it for stripping the coating of some trim bits. |

They use it to remove the anodized finish in Porsche/Fuchs alloys. |

| Steel wool will break of into tiny bits and stick all over your engine case and then corrode. You should use bronze wool. |
