Typically the rate is per mile. Usually an extra charge if it isn't a runner.

greg at vintage warehouse (mr. warehouse here on the samba) does west coast transport. He just hauled on for me from oregon to the bay area. Price was fair, not high, not low. I've done business with greg in the past so it was an easy decision, especially since the haul was time critical and somewhat complicated.

As per the above thread IMO from experience DAS is NOT a good company they damaged my vintage sports car (rear boot) and wouldn't pony up the repair even with the estimator they sent. The estimator was up front with me and said that DAS has so much business they don't care about damage. My mistake was not having the po take 360 photos the day of shipping and send to DAS prior to the cross country transport.

I used http://fourcornerstransportservices.com/ They are a brokerage and out of vancouver WA. They found a ship co for me to ship my bus from NC to NY. They cover nationwide. Price for me was $559, $159 goes to them and the rest was for the tow co.

With as much as you're going to spend on shipping it, you could buy a one way ticket to Idaho, pick up the bus and drive it to So Cal, plus you'd have a great time and lots of memories built up...plus plenty of bonding time!
