i have been there in person
it is a tourist attraction if your into bay buses

unless your making a big purchase
or you catch jim on a good day
the prices are closer to retail than cash & carry

i will say that if you need it or want it odds are, you can find it there
(except for a speedo with a trip or thermostat)

wow thanks for every answer!
i found something in lake elsinor and another one close from L.A. but can't remember their name.
i'm going down the coast right now.
it's insane! ahah it's my first time in cali and i love it!

as you can see i don't go often on internet, but i'll stop somewhere in LA to take a moment to plan a trip to go buy this slidding door and hopefully an index for my 1700cc too (mine's crapy)
i heard it's hard to find one tho :S

So you're saying BFY still exists????? Because that place went out of business last October when the owner abandoned the shop by Angel's stadium.

i did not want to bring that up
but "O"how true
the last time i was there (about 2 years ago)
he would not sell me a set of curtains
he would not sell me some bumper guards
no, not the radio
no, nothing out of that bus or that bus or that one over there

6 months later........
curtains, bumper guards,& radio are all still there
the bus'es still untouched

so for that +retail prices
i decided its not worth the 45 mile drive to try & get a part
locally

That happens to me here and everyone else that wants a "part" from Volksmith. He dosnt part his car-period. Then hes left trying to sell a partial car. I see the logic and I see how frustrating it is when you see the part you need.

Here is a perfect example of being able to sell a bus with as many parts it came with as possible.

I know for a fact that many a person-myself included tried to get the bumpers, jail bars, gas heater and sun roof off this bus. John has a much more compleet bus with the hard to find goodies on it. That in itself will give him the drive to restore it to its former glory.

And how many times have I seen solid advice from Bay people telling prospective buyers to buy what kind of bus? The most compleet

Its a differnt world when a junk yard wont break their cars for you because they dont want to be stuck with scrap. They know there is a larger pay off all at once rather than parting it out over time.
