| i am install carbs on a 2.0 76 westy, i have a lead from the starter coming in the left side fire wall, can i wire the coil from that. or can someone take a pic of there engine wiring to the coil. originally it came from the fan above the motor, need to wire that also. any help would be great thanks Rico |

| The coil should not be wired directly to the starter. That starter post is hot all the time, you want something which is powered only when the ignition switch is on... that's sort of the definition of an ignition switch !!! |

| My coil wire comes in to the engine bay on the passenger side, but I don't think the color is right. Definitely not from the starter. |

| On my '77 there are two wires to the hot side of the coil, both black. One comes from the driver's side around the outside of the engine. The other one comes from a wire harness which is attached to the aux fan, and also includes the wire for the oil pressure switch. Hope this helps |

| The wire on the drivers side is for the backup lights and double relay if you have FI, the power from the ignition switch comes from the RF corner of the engine compartment and visits the booster fan on it's way to the coil, it's black and shares a small harness with a green/blue oil pressure wire. |
