Ive got a 67 1500sp bug and when i turn over the engine by hand, there comes a spot where it becomes much harder to turn and sometimes even revolves backwards if I let go of the ratchet. Its only at this one spot and I cant seem to find the problem. Its a good daily driver, valves properly adjusted, timing set, just everything up to spec. I need help with this problem and would like the pros to give me some tips. Thanks.

What's the engine compression like? If you have higher than normal difference between one cylinder and the others, this could be your problem.

Check it out and see.

If the engine start and works good, this is normal.

I honestly dont know what the compression is since i dont have a tester for it but I do have a buddy that might be able to help. What else might it be if its not the compression??
