| Okay Ive got a 67 1500sp bug and I just recently got a new 10x904mm fan belt (it was the only size they had) and now my engine seems to be running much more hot than before. Before I could touch anything on my engine and not get burned but now I cant even touch my generator or dip stick for too long with injury. The actual belt itself seems to be hot too. Everything is adjusted and tuned to perfection but seems to be running too hot. I dont know what it is and need help from you guys. And fan is clear of anything, so im stumped on this one. |

You may either have the belt adusted too tight, or not tight enough causing it to slip, therefore not turning the cooling fan fast enough. The slipping belt will get hot with rubbing on the generator pulley, and this will in turn overheat your engine.
Was the belt you got bigger or smaller than your original. Either way, they will not grip properly, although the narrower belt may be better.
For $5.50 for a proper belt, it's not worth the headache of cooking your engine.
