I called this guy just hours after the ad was listed and (surprise surprise), no voice mail setup so no way to leave a message. Later the same day I get a text message from that number asking if I was calling about the bug.
I text back....he says he's "showing" it at 3pm on Sunday. I tell him I'm not gonna wait and that I'll take it now sight unseen. He says he wants a deposit to hold it....(can you hear the next request?).
He wants me to wire funds for the deposit. hahahahahhaha
Once I tell him I don't do that but I have no problem sending him a secured deposit through paypal, he begins to make counter accusations and it's suddenly my fault, I am the scammer, how could he trust me, etc etc. And that he was even thinking he would forgo asking for a deposit from me to hold it. I guess I really am a jerk after all. :lol:

The kicker to this is that his phone number is listed in Oakland, CA. He says the car is in Reno. Around the same time his ad was posted on craigslist, he posted a strange request on yahoo answers for someone to translate a begrudged letter to spanish for a car deal gone bad.
Didn't smell right from the beginning and yes, too good to be true. Thanks to slogoinvws for bringing attention to this thread. I'm curious if anyone bites, if they do, hopefully they'll walk away with a 51 for cheap. :shock: |

It could be a "library" photo. Ie a similar bug but I think I'd want to see it in the flesh before I even thought about buying!
Interestingly enough I bought a 56 van from sweden from photos, bank transfer etc etc. Now I look back I realise what a risk that was! I did do some checking up on the guy and asked for a couple of odd photos to be safe. Thankfully it was all good and I have a fab og paint 56 to go with the bug :D
