View original topic: how to remove front sway mounting brackets?

My son and I are lowing our 60 ragtop with a kit purchased from Airkewld. We need to remove the brackets that hold the front sway bar to the lower control arms, there are 2 on each side. I've tried hammering the clip off, but it won't budge. Any suggestions? I'd prefer not to damage anything , in case we want to go stock again someday. Thanks

Normally I would just cut them off, since I would be replacing them anyway, but if you want to save them... Make sure you have bent the tab on the center piece (the flat part) of the bracket UP (as in away from the car), then smack that same center piece out in the proper direction (it is tapered.)

ok, I didn't know that they are tapered, also do I bend the tab on removable piece or the bracket itself?
Thank you

Are they rusty? Honestly, I would just cut them off. Quicker and easier.

just did, I tried removing them with a hammer and chisel , then went to the cut-off wheel . A lot easier.
Thanks for the info.
