It's my first time posting to this forum so hello to all!

I have a 1964 Beetle which has been sitting for 20 plus years and I have just started to work on it. I tried moving it but realized both rear brake drums were seized and I was successful on freeing the rear left drum but not so successful with the rear right drum. I was wondering if anyone has encountered this before and or if anyone might have a solution? I've tried hitting it with a mallet and hammer, used plenty of penetrating oils and every other idea I could think of but have had no luck.

Get a bigger hammer and knock the hell out of it

did you un adjust the brakes? did you hit lugs on end like driving a nail?

I just had this happen with a rear axle assembly that was cut out of a junk yard car. If you don't care about saving the drums (which I didn't)cut a small hole near one of the lug nut holes with an angle grinder then rent a two arm bearing puller from autozone or advanced auto parts. One arm should fit into the hole that was cut and the other arm should fit into the star adjusting hole. Mine came off without a problem and they were very rusty. I suppose you could find an puller that opens more than 6 inches somewhere so you could save the drums, but that was the largest puller advanced autoparts had so I went with.
