Is the recommendation to advance the spark 1 degree for every 1000 feet of altitude above 4-5000 feet because of the increased F/A ratio or because the compression is lower from reduced atmospheric pressure?
I'm familiar with the operation of aircraft engines that have magnetos and manual mixture control for managing CHT and fuel economy. Less familiar with VW's. I like VW's because you can park and walk when you run out of gas.

I'll recheck. Took the plugs out yesterday and they looked perfect.
No .004 is not alright. Typically when warmed up, the original .006 closes to about .003" to .002" on hot days.....do the math. Ray |
