Hi, my name is Jeff and I'm about a month away from purchasing a 1970 Bus. Always loved the VW buses and after watching Lost last season where the blue and whites were seen quite regularly, I've decided to pick up a project. I do have considerable mechanical skill but no experience with VW's so I'm looking for owners in my area who might want to get together once I make the purchase. I'll be on the forums doing some reading and posting once I have my new baby. Anyhow, wanted to introduce myself and I look forward to learning a lot while I'm here.

Look up "Monkey Nut" in Charlotte. They're a good repair shop south of uptown and the owners own buses, including a single-cab.

Thanks for the responses! I'll be sure to search the forums once I pick the bus up. If I purchase my top choice it's pretty rough but a solid project. My goal is to make the car road ready, then work on cosmetics. I'll also post lots of detailed pics.

Purchased the bus today. It's being delivered Saturday. I actually passed two on the road here in Concord on my way down to SC. I found lots of info on this site and I can't wait to get together with some local owners.
