| Is it possible to make the window sash from a passengers door work on a drivers door? This is a ribbed 51 door w/ split window (1) piece glass. Thanks |

It is the piece of metal that connects to the glass....how the glass connects to the regulator. I'll post pic's later. |

isn't the drivers and passenger windows both completely flat, i.e. interchangeable, minus the securit logo will be mirrored and probably scratches from scraping ice (if from i.e. sweden where many splits spent some time) will be on the inside...
But if driven a beetle in swedish winter, you'll have to scrape ice on both inside and outside, so for that matter scratches could be on the inside... ;) |

Left and right are not the same. The entries for the rolls of the regulator
arm are differend located. So I think you can not just change them. |

| This will be difficult to explain with out pic's. The slots that the regulators connect to are the same. The difference is where the slots are located. I'm wondering if flipped around and relocated if in fact they will work? Anyone tried this?? |

After further inspection Usariemen is correct they are different and can not be switched. Here's some pic's why in case someone else is wondering.
The sash is mounted to the bottom on the window
The inserts where the regulator rollers go in would be in different places
The sash has different end lengths for window support
Time to buy a new one... ](*,) #-o |

i have doen this, it works, but i have cuttet it symmetrical on the side where it was longer.
the position on the window shoild be the same for the are where you connect it to the mechanic
if you buy a new one you weill get in most cases the shorter version wich will work also
but you have to fix that bended area |

To answer Hazetguy's question ....Yes Kaefer~Nostalgie is the only place I've seen them available. |

Here is a view of a part that is made by a friend.
Made in 1 mm thick steel.
It only need to make the notches to let in the regulator when installed in the doors.
As tha window is held in place in a Hebmuller by a alu trim around the window screwed to the extensions, the glass is secured so it can not fall out the rail. In a Split it is needed to bend in and bend out in the middle of the sides of the channel to clamp the glass with rubber.
Best regards. |

Are you looking for a fix or a factory part ? I have fixed many an early beetle using parts that are readily available and function better than stock .
With the door panel on you would never know.

Took apart my window mechanism today.
The sash was reusable, but the small "rollers" that were in it does not spin, they are rusty and worn. Should they move or just slide?
Is there a fix if they should spin? |
