Hi Guys, I'm actually a VW guy, but I want to ask you about the Porsche I bought today. Its a 1972 2.4 Targa complete and original (Becker radio, Fuchs rims with spare, factory air, tool kit) The mechanical fuel injection was replaced with Webers, but the original parts are all included.
The outer rockers are rusty (but a set of Dansk replacement panels are included) and the doors need two inches of lower skin replaced. Never-the-less this is a very solid car. Rear lid was replaced with Duck tail and has "matching" RS front bumper, both items installed in the late 80's.
The motor has 30k on a reputable rebuild and the vehicle was last started two years ago. Turns over nicely now, but havn't tried starting, since the carbs must be gunked up by now.
I have the original window sticker too and original repair manuals. Originally silver, one respray now black. Three owners and papers.
What have I gotten myself into here? I guess my question is what a 100% complete vehicle like this might be worth? What should I look for in order to give her a good home?
Where are the pics? Sorry don't have any yet. I just couldn't pass up such a beautiful car from my birth year. Any advice is appreciated. |

| Alright then. I think I'll get her running. She certainly deserves that after sitting for ten years. I'd like to do the basics and think I'll start with an oil change, but how? I do know its a dry sump, any advice on a basic oil change? Anyone? :?: |

Accelerator pumps must be dry by now but other than that, the carbs should be okay (unless they were screwed up to begin with?). Check the classifieds to see what your "prize" is worth. I'm still uncertain if you are trying to sell this car and make a "killing" or just trying to figure out if you "got a deal" ??? Rust is never a "sweet deal!" :(

Check out the Pelican 911 forums - you'll probably have better luck (advice) there:
