Well i used to have a patina 60 beetle that i ended up trading a couple years ago for a splitty camper. ever since i got rid of the car i regretted it. I tried and I tried to purchase the bug back but never had any luck...

the original patina

so needless to say that when a fellow missouri vw guy decided to sell a patina bug in need of help i had to jump on it. here begins the story of

here she is as found

after clearing at B and C

hauled home as just a body

some channel work, door pillar, and rocker work.... por-15'd

new pans and spread some por-15 on the inside

some original interior that i will run... may or may not redo the interior

as it currently sits after getting some fenders, lights and other small stuff

I recently ordered a 5 inch narrowed beam and drop spindles from slowlow so it will have a nice stance soon enough. going to run ratty stock wheels.

X2!

I gotta do it just for giggles....

SLAM IT AND DRIVE IT!!

Now that I got that out of my system, , I would NEVER have thought that would be that solid under those weeds and vines! Awesome!

Looking forward to more!

icekoffee Thu May 27, 2010 4:36 am

thank you... i cant waint to get her slammed

estofer Thu May 27, 2010 6:15 am

Very Nice!! That was a really straight body you pulled out of the weeds!

icekoffee Thu May 27, 2010 6:58 am

actually kevinmc did all the digging. which is good cuz poison ivy and i do not get along at all. lol i just scooped the body up from him when he decided not to finish the project. some metal work and a pan... now she is on her way

OutlawAlice Thu May 27, 2010 7:09 am

 Understood. Poison ivy leaps at me from six feet away!

Still tho! What a great place to start. Just gonna get her together and drive?

icekoffee Thu May 27, 2010 7:12 am

she will have a nice slam job and stock wheels... org interior for the tim being. I may end up redoing the interior in red with white piping tmi stuff

Lookin sweet...can't wait to see it in person soon.
Taking it to Junebug or Eureka Springs?

You could name her....Pati' or 'Tina
Sometimes you just have to drive it and the name will come.

CookieMonster35 Thu May 27, 2010 6:52 pm

Wow, that patina reminds me of Black Bart!

Culito Thu May 27, 2010 8:20 pm

Ah, midwest patina. We'll have to line 'em up sometime.

icekoffee Fri Jun 04, 2010 1:29 pm

got the decklid mostly back to original paint.... some spots bare metal... my bad

hubCapT Fri Jun 04, 2010 2:16 pm

No worries on going to bare metal, it will just blend in,,,, naturally! 8)

icekoffee Sun Jun 13, 2010 5:19 pm

got a better decklid at JBJ this weekend. best 30 bucks i have spend on this project. Also have the longblock ready for some tin.

Culito Sun Jun 13, 2010 5:25 pm

Sweet, that decklid works well!

My vote for the wheels is polished 5-spokes like your old bug. The wheels make the car, remember.

icekoffee Sat Jul 03, 2010 4:50 pm

pulled some new wheels off the shelf for the patina bug.... also ordered some tires 145s for the front and 165s for the rear.

also got a new beam

waiting on the tires... the tires wont roll cuz they are pressed up against the headlight buckets

also dropped one of my things

Van-go108 Sat Jul 03, 2010 6:24 pm

Yeah, you suck. I want a Thing both ways too. (two of them) Nice work dude...

zeroclearance Sat Jul 03, 2010 7:38 pm

are you gonna run 145/65s? or like firestone 145s? either way it should look bad ass, hell it does look it already!

icekoffee Sun Jul 04, 2010 12:21 pm

145/65s are what i ordered. for the patina not the thing

zeroclearance Sun Jul 04, 2010 10:40 pm

thats what i thought, but wasnt for sure! cant wait to it tucking them 145s!
