View original topic: HELP! 04' TDI Golf No Power!?!?
young_hippy12 Mon Jun 14, 2010 12:27 pm

Hello all,

I need some help on this one, my buddy owns a 04' TDI Golf. Recently he was heading home from work with 1 long drawn out hill doing 120km/hr and when he reached the top..... No power, that was the only indication something was wrong.

With being the location we are in there is no VW dealership for 4 hours, and no local garage will not touch it with a 10 foot pole as our Diesel mechanic's will not work for a shop when they can head to the oil fields and make $30 more an hour to do the same thing and I don't blame them. This is where I come in, I live for VW and can and have fixed everything to date... until now.

Here's what I know
- Tank was topped off prior to loss of power (still to find out how much... Maybe gas was added, maybe bad diesel)
- Waist gate moving freely
- Turbo spins fine.. I do not notice any movement as if a bearing is going
- Small amount of oil in the turbo inlate... not much, just enough to be noticed
- No vacume leaks noticed
- All controls/sensors have proper voltage
- Rad fluid fine, no oil
- Car has 127,000 KM's on it

Symptoms
- Well.... No power like none, it moves but not well
- Blowing smoke all the time when on the gas (light blue... mixed with the typical black)
- Turbo sounds like it is only kicking in around 2500-2800 rpm... I think the TDI's normally hit around 1500-1800rpm
- Code P0299 (low presure Turbo)
- Code P0135 (O2 Senser... can't remember what one)

Tonight I am going to remove some fuel and see if I can tell if there was any gas placed in it. Fuel filter was changed just after all this happened. Car is not being driven until problem is solved incase the issue is serious.

Any help is great... something I haven't checked even. If I can't get it fixed I'll have to tow him 4 hours and I do not want to have to do that. So thanks in advance! Feel free to message here or PM me.

Have you tried tdiclub.com for some ideas? Is the intake clear?

Search at TDIclub http://forums.tdiclub.com/
Sounds like it might be your N75...

Hey guys,

TDI Club is where I have done most of my research with little sucess. I have tested everything recomended and can not find anything needless to say this is my last resort.

So after last night I have found the diesel is clean and it was not gas accedently placed in the car.... So unless I can think of anything else between now and Friday I will be dollying the car down to Edmonton... :-(

Sounds like you blew the turbo oil seal...

Thats what I was wondering but had no idea how to check it without removing the entire Turbo.... These TDI's are not my cup of tea, give me an aircooled thats stock any day.

If it is the oil seal it will have to be a shop thing as I do not have the confidence for it.
