| They are for the rear quarter window on the 411/412 2 door models. They had an option for rear popout/openable quarter windows. The threaded portion of the bracket where these bolt in is already welded into all chassis and is hidden under the headliner material. They bolt up with a pair of type 3 part #'s 311 847 081A and 082A right and left. Ray |

| Ray, are you saying that you can make the rear side windows pop outs for the 2 door models using a type 3 parts? Can you explain that in more details please? Thx, Bill.jr. |

Well yes and no. The welded in points will allow you to install the latch....and it is the same part # as type 3....however the glass is not, the seal is not and the foward hinge clamp is not. Those are type 4 parts. And....its virtually impossible...at least to min findings....to drill the required latch hole in the glass without shattering it.
Upon discovering the mounting points and realizing that if I wanted new gaskets of any kind ...I would have to fab them...I thought about welding a nice metal channel/rim that fits around the glass with a flat metal tab with a stud or eye on the inside near the end of the window for the latch to bolt onto. from that point you could install a hinge point on the B pillar similar to what many vans use these days so their rear windows will pop out.
At that point you could use a modfiied gasket....with the outer lip slit...from a bug.
This would be a huge amount of skilled fabrication. The only type 3 parts in the mix are the latches. Ray |
