Visit the site if you want to see some really nice pics. I was listening to a Christian radio station earlier this summer and heard a story of a group out of a small town in Ga that was coming here to a Navajo Pueblo in July to do a makeover on a Super Beetle. I was intrigued and called them. Long story short..I joined them and part of this 87 person mission was a group of people from a Baptist church that joined a large group from a Methodist church from Atlanta..Sugarloaf United Methodist. Anyhow, a man, his 2 teenage daughters and two young guys came here towing this Bug named Barnacle Bill...actually had barnacles and lots of rusty floors and ragged. They stayed here where Parkland Baptist sponsored them and that day... and half the next day we uprooted one of my compressors, loaded the trailer and my suv with tools, parts and supplies. Then drove into a very isolated part of NM to the Pintado Pueblo. After meeting with the folks there and being treated to a meal the core group of us worked at the local high school till 3am separating the body from what was left of the pan and totally stripped the car. That was Sunday night..on Friday we presented a totally new Bug to a man named Ben Bennett. married father of two boys 1 and 2 years old. Everything was new. I feel blessed to be allowed to help in this mission and plans are in work for a Baja Bug going to the same Pueblo...and we're planning on building a business there for someone also. The equipment is obtained and now we're planning the concrete and structure. Please check this out...it was an amazing journey. 18-19 hours a day and all done in 5 and a 1/2 days..engine,paint, interior..everything. I'll post some pics later.
