In 1974 my father found '65 battered,beaten still had a 2 X 4 weged in to the hood area,on the back of a scrap yard truck.Bought it for $1.00(Still had bill of sale when I regestered it in '94)
Started to rebuild it.Found a donor '66.
Let it sat.No interior,siezed 1300,Leaky sunroof.Tried to keep it garaged.(off and on mainly in winter it was in a garage)
When moved in 1985 it sat out doors.Untouched.In 1990,I loaned my estranged dad $1000.00.Instead of repaying me,offered me the bug.I accepted but was leaving to join the army.(I really would have preferred the cash because I was stationed overseas,GERMANY!)Got home in 1994.Spent 6 months to get the car road-worthy.The regestration
that my dad had on the car expired in August 1974.The day that my car FINALLY passed a DMV inspection(failed 2 times),and was legally on the road in my name,new plates, was July 1994! almost 20 years! Now with getting married,buying a house, Deploying to IRAQ with the military,AND almost loosing my life to an unknown ling disease, (READ my samba post in off-topic forum)my '65 sits in his garage. Sometimes life does get in the way.But one day My daughter and I will FWEEM down the road in Our father-daughter project
