I will repeat here what I said in the feedback thread. We have used Don for 6 years now and never once have we had a bad trans he built. My Fasty, my Baja, my Thing, my Rail, and dozens of customers cars are running his transaxles. Everything from stock swing axles to full on race prepped 091 bus boxes. Az Transaxle is also a good builder, BUT Don will save you a ton of money and he has a quick turn around.

What are the circumstances behind the incident? Is he wanting $400 because he repaired it? I don't know if a mechanic's lean extends to a transmission, or if it is strictly when an entire vehicle is held by the mechanic that repaired it to prevent the owner from taking it back after repairs. You could call the Peoria Police Department (jurisdiction where his shop is) and ask. You both may end up taking each other to small claims court. There are always 2 sides to the story.
