The fuel filter on the fuel line of my bug only ever has a small amount of gas in it at one time. is this normal? when i start the car you can see the gas getting almost coughed through the filter, but it runs fine. anybody else experience this?
Thanks,

Mine is just like that. I don't know why, but it has never been a problem.

Manual pumps pump 1 or 2 times per crank revolution. This results in fuel pulses that never fill the filter completely. Electric pumps produce a more steady flow of fuel. Def. better for hi-po engines.

is it normal to see air bubbles being pumped into the fuel filter when the engine is running? there is fuel visible but a small amount as the OP stated.
