View original topic: Porsche heads on a 36horse?

This may be an extremely stupid question but I am going to ask it anyhow. I am rebuilding my 36 horse motor. The long block is just about assembled, minus heads, I have a stock crank, an okrasa cam and stock pistons/sleeves. Will any old porsche heads bolt up to my motor? Is this a bad idea? I only ask because I may have found the "old porsche parts hook-up."

Thanks,

Adam

I have no idea, but I do know that a single exhaust rocker arm for a super 90 engine is $300. I'd think twice about old porsche parts if I were you, based on price alone.

I thought the early 356 engines had a gear driven valve train that ran off the cam. Maybe I am making this up but I remember the porsche heads being VERY different than the bug ones. Bugman is right about the price thing tho. Porsche engines are damn expensive. It costs like 9g to rebuild one.

The super 90 we have is in a 66 912. It's a pushrod setup, no gears. Maybe you're thinking of a carrera 4cam? In any case, stick with stock heads.
