I have a " V" deck lid. The body of the car is a 56 [ I think ] Are the Spring brackets on the body different? If so, what spring should I use. Big or little.

Where the spring on the decklid mounts is a little wider on the "V", then the "II" style. My Big Spring on my 54 on the decklid side is wide as well to match the "V" style mount. But I believe the actual anchored side on the body is the same as the later year. Im not sure if the smaller Mid 1955 -57 spring would fit the "V" shaped mount on the decklid, being that it is narrower.

The body is different too. The socket where the tongue of the spring engages is wider on the early cars to take the wider tongue of the early big spring. If you have a 56+up car, the early spring will work. If you have a 55-down car, the late spring won't fit.

Thanks guys. The body of my oval is under a lot of snow now, so I can't look at the mount. I need to buy a spring, so I will go for a large one. Thanks again. Dennis

Anyone else have these problems or is it just old decklid hangers?
If there are any fitment problems wiht the KSR lids, it's usually the hangers or the car may have been hit. Bob Koch has personally fitted a couple dozen of these lids without any issues. Even so, if it takes a little effort to get it right, you'll be much more ahead of the game as opposed to trying to repair and fit an original.
