I'll be in San Diego for the weekend. So maybe next time.

Do you have any experience with the shop 'Mesa West' it's near 17th and newport?

OhHerrooo Wed Feb 09, 2011 9:52 am

i've never been there for work but have gone in and poked around a couple times. they seem to be pretty nice guys. you've got Kymco close by for parts as well.

it was beautiful out yesterday so i hopped in the squareback and cruised down PCH into laguna beach, then through laguna canyon. here's a picture i snapped at the sawdust festival compound.

So when are you gonna let me try out your new rack on my car? The more I see the full length, the more I like it.

what are you doing on saturday? mike and i are coming over to get some loose ends tied up / clean our cars before octo. you can put it on then.

I was just over at Mesa West, and there was a guy with a Red squareback. It had wrap around turn signals. Is it anyone on here?

well the headliner install today didn't go exactly as planned. the PO who had already bought a headliner for the car bought a sunroof headliner, and i don't have a sunroof. how awesome of him.

we got all the stationary window seals changed, the old headliner out, and the old padding re-glued in. now to head over to TMI tomorrow to get pop-out seals, new stationary rear 1/4 window trim, and a few other things. picturese of the before/progress coming shortly.

yesterday headed to ISP to pick up a bunch of new goodies

exchanged an incorrect seal for a rear 1/4 stationary seal. bought inner & outer pop out seals. bought rear 1/4 window trim and had Josh (turbomicrowaves) buy me a headliner, since i gave him the sunroof headliner the PO had bought for my non-sunroof car.

headliner install is planned for next weekend.

The Duc got you.

And I thought mine was bad!

freakin' duc.

my headliner was in terrible shape, it was incredibly brittle. if you even poked it in a spot that had some tension, it would split open and rip about 4-6". not only that, i'm just over 6' tall and the saggiest part of the headliner is right above the driver's seat. so i'd be driving around with 40 year old insulation shedding on my hair.

thankfully that'll all be fixed this weekend.

You should have left it. That giant hole in the front is right about where you can install a sunroof.

Seriously though, I cant wait to see the new headliner installed. Did you buy all new trim for your windows too?

PIMPPRIDE Tue Feb 22, 2011 5:58 pm

can you see out the rear window with that rear view mirror??? it should be pointing more at the headliner as it looks to be a fastback one... ( short stem )

Anthony / ISP WEST

yeah it worked fine. accidentally broke the base when removing it though, so it looks like i need a new one. have any day/night mirrors in good shape and in stock anthony?

'68 and later they are the same as type 1. So far, have not seen a late model with an original long stem mirror. I know mine came from the factory with short stem.

Good luck on the headliner installation. Going to be a big difference, especially not having the junk getting in your hair.

OhHerrooo Wed Feb 23, 2011 12:41 pm

oh nice, yeah i need to be on the hunt for a new mirror now. i've already got new sunvisors so that'll keep everything looking fresh and new.

anybody know where i can find repop coat hooks? or the plastic screws that plug where shoulder belts can be installed? b-pillar grab handles? i'd really like to have the whole interior nice and new.

i'm really stoked to get all my seals done too. my windshield, hatch and pop out seals were all in terrible shape, they all leaked (badly) and were cracked and faded. this is really going to make a big difference!
