| WHY DOESNT SOMEBODY MAKE SOME STRAIGHT CONTROL ARMS TO BRING THE WHEELS IN INSTEAD OF NARROWING THE BEAM. THE CONTROL ARMS CURVE OUTWARDS AWAY FROM THE CAR, I DONT SEE HOW CHANGING THE ANGLE ON THESE WOULD ALTER YOUR RIDE. YOU WOULD STILL HAVE TO SHORTEN THE TIE RODS. ANY THOUGHTS OUT THERE???? |

| Because your wheels would hit the outside of the beam. |

So I've seen people post pics with 3" 4" 5" nad Trayle D. even has one with 5.5" and reference to a tricycle beam.
What I want to know is how narrow can/should you go? You have to hit something inside at some point. And what is a tricycle beam, or is that a joke about an old post? |

Tricycle beam was someone trying to dis narrowed beams back in the day on the R&Rs. We took it and ran with it. Cant use that to make fun if we are all calling them that.
I just finished a 6 inch beam with custom shock toweres. Kosmicride and I did a beam for the 58 ghia I sold him that is 6.5 inches narrowed. But I think that is about he extent you can go with stock steering linkage. After that there is no room for the steering box to mount. Plus the more narrow you go the more you run into geometry problems with the steering. |

Trayle, when narrowing a beam, and keeping the shock towers, do you make the shock towers narrower to get more norrowing out of the actual beam itself! Thats how we have done mine, and it looks great, and also let me narrow the beam 4.5 inches without touching the body! Do you cut the body at all for clearence???
Cheers N! |

| I never cut the body. Thats the point. I dont sell them, but for my beams I make the shock towers out of plate steel and it bends to miss the body. |

Thanks Trayle, I was just wondering! Thats how we have done it! If I were in the States, I probably would have asked you to do it, but Im so far away, that I had to figure it out on my own!!!! I will post pics of the car as soon as I get it back from the painter!
Cheers, from Down Under! N! |

| Its only 6.5 inches. And your right, it would look like tooooo much on a bug but it looks titties on that Ghia, especialy since he's rollin 5s. If he were on "4n a halfs" it would look way crazy . Why you gotta hate on Scottys tricycle beam bro...LOL. |
