I have a 914 1.7L engine that I am steadily making a sandrail chassis for.

I want to use the existing cylinder head temperature sensor, but I don't know what the resistance values correspond to in terms of degrees.

Part number is 311906041

A chart, an equation, something that gives me the math would be greatly appreciated. I would put the thing in an oven with a thermometer and measure it myself but I don't have a sensitive enough rig, nor do I know what the max/norm/min running temperatures should be. I have been busy working on getting the frame to hold the engine, I can work on the running details later.

I have to admit that I was expecting higher numbers for the temperatures

like the 200 degree range, i guess that would be more the oil temperature?

The list I found for a type 4 engine was 180-250F being the normal operating temperature.

Of course I am used to water cooled engines where those temperatures are quite normal...

Somewhere there is a factory chart which might show the entire range, but thought this would get you started, and glad it has. :D
