Hello! I'm Martin, from Argentina, i got 25 years old. I bought this bus two years ago, and i'm restoring on my free time.
I always wanted to have a vw bus, and i have been lucky finding this one.
I wish to share the pics of the restoration progress with this community, hope you enjoy them.
The bus is a german split 65. I think it was hit on left and another hit on front right. It was about two years parked in a yard, the latest owners didn't take care of it, and it comes rusty.
I started the body work on January this year, so i will post some old pics at first.
This forum is very useful to me. I have earned lot of knowledge a lot here.
So thanks to everybody!
Sorry for my english.
Martin.
Bus found! :D

Thanks! Yup, stripes not bad, but i prefer go back to some original color  , this bus was dove blue, but my wife likes sealing was red/beige gray.
You can imagine the color it will have when finished... |

Thank you!, when we got it finished, i think Patagonia is the first travel we'll do. We want to travel all the country, or all America why not! It's just a dream, but dreams comes true time to time!
There is not much splits here, a guy who has a registry of splits told me there is about 15 running so far in country.
Here is a big group of vw buses, about 600 members solokombis.com.ar which i'm a member.
You can write in english if you want, i can understand well, i just have some problems with redaction. jeje |

sconord wrote a post about cargo door lock mechanism fix:

This help me to take out my fear for open it, i cleaned the mechanism, and lubricate it with graphite grease.
I didn't drill out the rivets, i just dremel the rivets borders, leaving enough material to rivet it again. It's just good to maintain the box closed, because later with the 4 screws will be strong tightened.
Thanks sconord!

The upper hinge of passenger door was really damaged. I think it was because some hit on font right side.
Lot better! :D
