| i am planning to remodel my bus to fit some CAMPER cabinets. I need someone who can trace the forms and specs on the back side cabinel, the top rear cabinet and the seats beging the driver's seat.If i can get the parts for an EZ BEB and the plans it would be eat. I can pay if necesary and will buy the hardware for the EZ BED. I know is hard to get it deliver to PR so i guess the tracings and pictures will do. Thanks a lot. |

| Geez man that sounds like quite a pain. :D Exactly what year of cabinets are you talking about? They are several different types. |

| Sounds to me like he wants the plans for the 75-79 style cabinets, that follow the driver's side. I like those ones the best myself. I have a 74 with the fridge and stove behind the passenger seat, and it just seems a lot roomier to have them all on the driver's side. Althugh with three kids, it's nice to have the full width back seat I must admit! Jeremy |

What a pain in the butt making your own would be.
There are plenty of wrecked campers with the interiors for sale.
Don't make life any harder than it already is; just buy a set of good used ones... |

| There's various years Westys on here being parted out - most with complete interiors. There's a guy in SoCal with a complete interior for $200 - considering the z-bed and all the cabinetry, I don't think you'ld save any $$ doing it yourself if you can find something in your locale. I'd check the classifieds. |

| Local might not be an option, he said he's in Puerto Rico. |

If you are going to build your own, are you intent on duplicating an original design? If not, why not just browse the gallery, get some Ideas, and design your own. There are a lot of camper pics in there, and some have been owner modified to suite there own needs/preference.
Another thought would be to check the classifieds and find someone that has all the pieces already removed from a camper and e-mail them to see if they might be willing to do some measuring and tracing for you. Some might even be nice enough to take some close-up pics of the minor details. |

Dude,
I just finished a re-firb on my '76 Westy and if I had to build all the cabinets from scratch I would never have done it. I may be beating a dead horse, but damn, save yourself a lot of time by finding exsisting parts. There are places that can ship them to you and it will make it a lot easier to for you as well. You will need to cut different holes into the side of the bus in order to accomidate the breather for the sink and for the electrical outlet as well as a hole in the floor for the drain, wiring and propane conection. But that stuff is pretty simple and self explanitory. All in al its a great time to bond with your baby.

VW from what I have found is all about modifications. How cool would it be to outfit your old camper with some really new cabinets from another camper.
I would take these guys advice and find some nice cabinets in another bus and put those in. My neighbor has a 91 Westy camper with super nice cabinets, Im kinda jealous. It would be pretty sweet to have his setup in a camper. Actually really anything you put it would be great.
Good Luck. |
