Thank you for all of the responses on my previous questions about my '59
European bug. I have a couple other questions that have come up. Do semaphores
need rebuilt for 12 volt if you switch from 6 to 12 volt? That and how could I set up my
turn signals so that, the semaphore and the tail lights (on the turn signal side)
blink on and off at the same time? Any ideas or know-how? Thanks once again.

there is a way to do it. There was a old article in Hot VWs years ago that showed how. I must involve running a seperate wire to the light in the semaphore. As long as the light uses the same power as the sylanoid, you can not do it. It would make the semaphore go up and down with the lights as they blinked. That would be...UUUHH...No good..LOL. As far as the 6v 12v question, just run a voltage drop.

i ran a voltage drop on my semafores and they would barely raise and not go up all the way. i then just ran 12v to them which many people say is fine and just never left them up for a long time. others may have had different results with voltage drops.

vw59,

There is a way to make the semaphore go up and blink with the rear lights also blinking , You need a relay from a caddie or crysler to do it but it is posible , Leave the semaphors 6 volt you can not rewire them for 12 volt . Rewiring thme would take more copper wire then in a 6 volt and would not fit in the semaphore box , just use a good voltage drop .One with Dial so you canadjust the voltage . e-mail me if you want for more info dont want to give my secrets to the world here ! lol...
