AOL is currently delaying or blocking emails from the site due to the volume of emails the site sends out. It's mostly alerts but have seen a few ad inquiries get kicked back.

If you have AOL and have noticed you are not getting alerts, please contact AOL support and ask them to unblock the site immediately.

Sample message I am getting:
Quote: SMTP error from remote mail server after initial connection:
host mailin-02.mx.aol.com [205.188.190.1]: 554 5.7.1 :
(RLY:B1) http://postmaster.info.aol.com/errors/554rlyb1.html

From the web link above
Quote: 554 RLY:B1
* This error message is a dynamic block on our system. Dynamic blocks are placed on an IP address when the IP's statistics break our threshold. These are automated blocks that are removed by the system within 24 hours once the complaints are again below the threshold.

I'm on AOL - I think about every reply to an ad inquiry I've made for years now has ended up in my spam folder - I still get them but have to dig them out of spamville. Now, as far as getting "new Private Message" notifications, those come though fine - I just sent myself a PM as a test and the email was instant.

I got a couple more alerts rejects this morning so it may be dependent on the email content as well.

It's supposed to go away within 24 hours so I'll see...

Update:
The messages ceased yesterday, I believe in the morning.

I used to work @ AOL. If you ever have issues again, shoot me a PM/EMail and I'll get a hold of Mail Ops as best I can.

Well, if someone can make it so email replies for TheSamba Classified Ads don't get thrown into SpamLand, that would be nice. There's been some ads that I don't know if the seller just didn't answer, or if they did, and it got deep-sixed by spam filters and didn't even make it into my spam folder. TheSamba Classifieds are what drew me to this site in the beginning, but with the hassle in contacting sellers I don't look at the ads much anymore. It gets kind of old whenever I reply to an ad to have to say "I'll get back to you but your reply will probably go in my spam folder and I might not see it right away, try emailing or PM'ing me direct instead" like I've been doing. I'm not sure if it's the subject heading "TheSamba.com Ad - " or if it's the way the site sends them out from "[email protected]" that triggers the spam status.

On a similar note:
I know some people consider it weird that the site send out the emails from [email protected] instead of faking that it came from whoever emailed you.

Unfortunately I have been told that a lot of the emails providers will block an email if it says it came from [email protected] but gets sent from thesamba.com web server instead of from yahoo.com

They think it's spam.
