Found some time yesterday and today to continue working...

Created some sheet metal for the rear inner mudguard (suport of the chassis)

First a small model in carton;

Some plate cut out;

step 1;

step 2;

step 3;

Bringing it into shape and finishing off;

Today I spend most of my time on the side panel. This had to go in first before I can creat some other plates needed for the back corner...

Nice work,

Refreshing to see patch panels being formed and fitted from scratch, especially since so many of the aftermarket panels have incorrect stampings for Ovals (or simply don't fit! :? ). Getting ready to start the fabrication and metal repair on my 56 Deluxe and these build threads are an invaluable aid.

Thanks! :)

just picked one... it didn't matter... never found any "good" sheetmetal which fits properly for beetles so (exept the one fom Wolf, but that's quite expensive :lol: )... just cut of some pieces and use a hamer and dolley, that was my sollution! :D

Didn't have much time to make any progress on the oval BUT I bought some very nice presents for myself @ Bad Camberg last weekend !! :lol:

- original ashtray
- original rear fender for only 50€ :twisted: (it was the cheapest thing on the entire market and not even in a bad condition :P )
- new rubber seal for the gas tank cap.

Tomorrow evening I have some time and I'll try to do some work again... Finally some time to relax and enjoy working on the oval !!! [-o<

Hello rud!

Your doing great work! Very inspirational! Since I have to do a lot of welding on the body your pictures are a great example... Good score on the rear fender! I found a right 1954 front fender for 50,- at Bad Camberg. Quite cheap as well! :)
