I just bought an old correct type of jack for my 1960 Bug. I need to know what is used to crank it up. Is it a lug wrench or just a simple bar that fits on the jack? I could go to Home Depot and probably find something that would work but I would rather have the correct item. I scoured the gallery to see if I could find a pic of a jack/tools but with no luck. Also, if it is a lug wrench, are they any good? My dealings with factory "tools" ends up with broken metal and profanity. Can somebody help me? Thanks!

it is a bar that is long and straight with a little bend at one end. if you go to ebay and search for "vw jack" you will probably see one for sale, either by itself or offered with another jack.

I have a few older friction jacks at home. I'll see if I have any extra bars, if so I can mail you one. Gary

Sorry folks, I checked where I thought them to be and them ain't there no more. I now only have the one in the trunk of my bug. I saw a new site. Busco.com they recycle a lot of old busses and have jacks for busses and bugs. check them out they might have a spare rod around. Also, I thought that that jack rod is almost the same size as a piece of re-bar that you can by at a hardware store. I think its also hardened enough that it wont bend in use. not as pretty, but at least its not a big screwdriver. good luck.

Thanks cyclone for checking around. I happened to find one at a local Bug show here in Fla last weekend and only paid $1 for it. I hope Big Wave Dave has luck on finding one himself. Take it easy.

I am looking for a pre65 bug....I have a 1962 ragtop baja that was built for the desert and I am looking to trade.
