thought i would ask here i searched calssifieds with no luck using the word speedometer cable. i need a new cable for 64 notch i took the rotors off to put new ones on the speedo cable was apparently broken by po cause its still attached to the front dust cap but there is maybe 1/4" of cable inside cap. im not sure if one from something elses would work or if it has to be a type 3 cable or not. some suggestions as to wher eto look for one would be helpful thanks.

I'm using a the 56-71 ghia cable in my 65, if that helps any. I wonder why there's a 20 price difference.

the other kit apparently comes with a new cap, spring and clip for the cable.

i got a new cable from ghia parts. put it in had car on jack stands had wife watch speedo i got it up to 30 spinning by hand then she said she heard a funny ticking noise and it quit working. i was like wtf took speedo out and cable out it broke by the speedo. so i called them they stated it broke cause there is something wrong with my speedo(needs rebuilt about 120 bucks) i told him it wasnt my speedo cause there is a stamping on the back that states it was rebuilt in 1990. he continued to tell me it had to be the speedo cause a cable just doesnt break. he basically told me im s.o.l and buy a new one. so my wife whom ordered the cable got on their site and sent them an email about what happened someone sent back an email 2 days later telling her sorry about it breaking and a new one is sent to her. about 2 days later i got a new one in the mail. i guess if breast and a vagina complains things get done.

So....., did the new cable work or instantly break like the last one??

i havent had a chance to put it in the car but i did hook the cable up to the speedo since i had it out i hooked my cordless drill to it averaged about 60mph for 5 miles and it didnt break. i would hardly doubt being in the car would be any different i even flexed it in different places no change. so my next step is to install it and drive the car for a bit. even though it is snowy here a short drive wont hurt anything
