Thanks for all the responses about removing the engine, but my REAL questions were: Can I do THESE things with the engine still in the car:
1. Remove the Fan Shourd to paint.
2. Replace the firewall insulation and cover with SS tin.
3. Install twin Webers.
4. Remove other top tin to paint.
Or is it simply easier to remove engine to do all this.

| You can.... if your a glutton for punishment..... take the engine out and all that stuff is alot simpler... but I would leave the carbs and manifolds off and put them when it is back in... although some profess to stab it back with them on.... |

| Just a note thats not really related, but I would love to take a late sixties bay engine compartment, which has the back bar that unbolts and put it into my 78 westy. how nice would that be!! why did VW ever stop with that design anyway?? |
