ok, so now i cant get into first gear, but if i actually do get into first, it feels like the car just dropped a cement block out of its ass, then, i cant get into 2nd, but if i do, same deal, 3rd i can get into, and 4th isnt even possible. thats my clutch plate right? I bought this car for $2800, did i get dicked? the brakes are good (except the e-brake cable) and the engine backfires like a bitch. I was trying to sell the car, before the clutch went, i only had the car for like 2 weeks. and one of the 2 weeks it was in the shop because my brakes went 45 minutes away from my house and i couldnt bring it home. So if its my clutch, let me know, i would assume its a costly repair. (so i know to either fix it first or sell it for alot less. my price already got shot down to 2400, but im guessing AS USUAL i got dicked.

Hey Bloop, have you ever replaced a clutch plate before? Are you going to sell your ride if that's what it is? What year is your vw and what condition is it in? Where do you live? I might be interested in it. Let me know.

ive never replaced a clutch plate, i was going to sell it, this guy was offering me $2400, even though i spent $2800 on it and an extra $700 on brakes and the floor, but now im having these clutch problems. it has a 40 horse thats supposedly rebuilt but im starting to think it isnt. but the floors & heater channels are good and the brakes are good. the paint is like different tones, of white the body molding isnt on it, no bumpers, it pulls slightly to the right when i hit the brakes. and the passenger door doesnt shut all the way, the backseat has no cusion, it has no carpeting, just floor mats, and a few peices of that cheap $10 carpet from pep boys, the transmission is good i think, it seemed great until this crap happened. if youre seriously interested i have pictures, i live in long island, NY. Im waiting on what this guy says now too, he's not really a volkswagen guy though, he just wants it so he can put herbie decals on it and show it to his kids.

oh its a 66

Did you have somebody go with you to check this car out before you purchased it? Are you just losing interest in it. Volkswagens can sometimes do that to people. They start to get frustrated and the quickest solution is to sell the damn thing. If you are into volkswagens and you really don't WANT to sell your car, you should probably find someone to help you fix it for a reasonable price. Maybe even a friend to do it for free. I don't know. I am 29 years old and when I was 17, I had a 69 bug and I would get so frustrated with it. I loved it when it ran good and I had no problems with it. When it broke down, or the day it caught fire because my fat friend was sitting right over the battery....that really sucked. Haha..LOL! Anyway, I have been there. I ended up selling it about a year later. I was Volkswagen-less for about a year and a half, then I bought a 62 for $700. I have owned one or more ever since. I live in So Cal. so about me checking it out or buying it...that's out...sorry. OH, How did you spen $700 on the brakes and floor and it still pulls to the right? I guess the guy that want's it, to make it a Herbie...has money to burn. Nothing against you. You said he JUST WANTS IT SO HE CAN PUT HERBIE DECALS ON IT AND SHOW IT TO HIS KIDS. Must be nice to be able to buy a car JUST to put stickers onit for show in the front yard. Good luck, whatever decision you choose.

hey i just checked it out, it turns out its the clutch cable, its all shredded, and after tightening it, it shifted good, then after a few more kicks it got loose again. But as far as why im selling it, i was selling it before that happened. I have 2 bugs that i dont want, i want a bus, i had a bus and i traded it, but i totally regret it, and i found a good bus, but i have to sell these cars first in order to get it. I would never sell a volkswagen because of a small thing. thats just plain old retarded.

o and also the way i look at it, if this guy is going to buy it and show it to his kids as a herbie, maybe his kids might remember that when theyre like 17 and end up being a VW freak!

Well, if the guy likes VWs, chances are his children will be infected too. My son is 4 years old and he knows what's up on Volkswagens already. He loves them. He says he's going to have a blue convertible when he's old enough to drive. I guess I better keep my eyes open and start saving my money now.
