There's a number of different threads around here that mention lowering rides and the best way to do it. You might want to look through the threads to see if you find what you're looking for.

i just finished lowering my 57. the first thing you've got to know is wether you have a king/ link pin front suspension or a ball joint front suspension. they make beams and spindles for both. you have to disconnect your brake lines steering box and disconnect your tie rods and steering dampener from the pittman arm ( the arm sticking out of your steering box). after this is all done, you need to first un bolt the top two bolts on the inside of your trunk and the 4 bolts that hod the beam on to the pan. have someone help you if your taking it out brake drum to brake drum(complete)because it wieghs a ton. if you go with an adjustable front beam, you need to get caster shims and 2 longer beam bolts for the bottom. torque your 4 lower beam bolts to 36 ft.- lbs. hope i was some help, oval guy
